Boom! Each newsletter will land in your email inbox, and you won’t (at worst) forget about them or (at best) have to go hunting them down. It’s free.
What do you write about?
Curious tidbits of art history, literary history, and the history of everyday life through antiques, tied together in a bow using the ribbon of my life as an author and artist.
And if you’re interested in collecting my work, then here is also where I’ll trumpet with great fanfare, from time to time, new collections, sales, and giveaways in the shop.
About
Susannah Carson is an artist, author, antiques collector, and fallen-away academic.
She spent the first part of her life with her nose buried in all the books she could find, racking up all sorts of degrees in philosophy and literature, culminating in an M.Phil. from the Sorbonne and a Ph.D. at Yale. She then jumped the academic ship and put together a couple of anthologies with the Penguin-Random House group, one on Jane Austen and one on Shakespeare, for which she got to travel the world discussing great thoughts with great people.
At some point she picked up a paintbrush and began doing watercolor paintings of literary and historical figures and started the illustration company, Imaginiste. And then she dabbled in oils and began painting Lover's Eyes and other grander, mysterious portraits in the Georgian and Victorian tradition but with a contemporary twist.
She is fueled by tea, cookies, baths, historical fiction, antiques hunting, dressing up her mini shih-tzu, Agatha, and a storybook romance with her lovely, eccentric husband.
